Geography
At Belmore, our Geography curriculum is designed to foster a deep curiosity and understanding of the world around us. We aim to inspire children to explore and appreciate the physical and human features of different places, developing a strong sense of place and a global perspective. Through engaging and practical experiences, students will develop the knowledge and skills to understand the world’s environments, cultures, and societies.
Our intent is to help children develop a sense of connection to the planet by exploring topics such as maps, weather, climate, landforms, and the diversity of people and places. By studying both local and global geography, students will understand how physical features and human activities interact and influence one another, and how we can all contribute to a more sustainable future.
We want students to build essential geographical skills, including map reading, data collection, and fieldwork, encouraging them to ask questions, make observations, and form conclusions about the world. We also aim to nurture their understanding of global issues, such as environmental change and cultural diversity, helping them to appreciate the challenges and opportunities facing communities worldwide.
By the end of their primary school journey, our goal is for every child to have a well-rounded understanding of the world, equipped with the curiosity and skills to continue exploring and understanding the geography of the world in an ever-changing global society.
