Vaisakhi

At Belmore we enjoy any opportunity to celebrate important dates and celebrations of all the different religions and cultures that make up our community.

On Friday, 21 April we celebrated Vaisakhi as a school. Vaisakhi is one of the most important and holiest dates in the Sikh calendar as it is a day to celebrate 1699-the year when Sikhism was born as a collective faith and the birth of the Khalsa.

All the children could come to school in their celebration clothes.

We especially loved seeing so many children dresssed up in traditional celebration dress. Lots of girls were dressed in beautiful dresses and saree and boys in very smart kurta, shirts and ties.

We are so lucky at Belmore that we all get to acknowledge, learn and experience aspects of different religions.
