Parent Teacher Association

What is PTA?

A PTA is a Parent Teacher Association, an organisation with a mission to make the school a better place for children to learn.  Belmore Primary Academy PTA brings together parents, teachers and children to raise funds and strengthen the school community.

PTA members will get involved in helping setting up various events that take place during the academic year, including, school discos, summer and Christmas fairs, fund-raising events e.g. cake sales and much more!

POOJA BARRAL - CO-CHAIR

I have always been deeply passionate about supporting schools and education, as demonstrated in my employment history. As a parent with two of my own children attending Belmore, I now have a vested interest in creating and maintaining positive relationships between the parent community and the school to ensure our children are provided with the best possible opportunities during their school life.

My skill set below indicates my strengths and shows why I believe I am a good candidate for the role of PTA Co-Chair:

  • Highly motivated, focused and good at decision-making
  • An excellent listener and communicator
  • Able to lead and organise with care and attention
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • A proactive approach - always happy to help!

SANITA SEHMI - CO-CHAIR

I am excited to work together with  parents, teachers and children to raise funds and strengthen the school community. I’m a very organised individual with an eye for detail. There are many skills I have gained within my daily job that I feel will the role of Co-Chair can benefit from, for example:

  • Ideas and opinions
  • Support senior management beyond what my actual role is
  • Always willing to go the extra mile in any capacity
  • I endeavour to do all my work to a very high standard
  • I am a strong communicator

Like to tackle objectives head on with solutions.

As I have two further children yet to start Belmore Primary, being a PTA member will be a long-standing commitment of mine.

ANITA CHAND - COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
I am excited to be the Communications Officer for the PTA. I believe I have an accomplished skillset which can be applied to this role in a productive, efficient and effective manner. Having worked as a Nurse for almost 20 years, I have acquired people skills and effective communication skills, in addition to being able to handle a variety of situations with the utmost of confidentiality and professionalism.  A key part of my Nursing role is to support people and relay important information, and I believe such experiences will be beneficial in the role of Communications Officer.

I have a natural enthusiasm and ability to plan, prepare and organise information and events. I have been involved in supporting various charitable events and activities in the past which I feel will put me in a good position for the role. I am known for being friendly, approachable and empathetic. My ability to work with people from all backgrounds and situations would enable me to develop positive relationships with other parents which will, eventually, encourage them to become more involved in the School's activities and events. Being GDPR compliant comes naturally with my career as a Nurse and I am highly aware and sensitive to data protection.

In this role, I look forward to organising and fundraising events and communication, which would bring the Belmore community together and building stronger connections with the parents/carers of Belmore Primary School.

KULJEET KAUR SANDHU - TREASURER
I am a motivated and highly organised Finance Officer, with over 16 years’ experience in Finance. I have been in my current Finance Officer role at Charville Academy for over a year now. During this time I have worked closely with the PTA team which has given me a clear insight on what commitment is required as the Treasurer. I am reliable and methodical, I love working with excel so I’m not only good with numbers but I can reassure you the PTA financial affairs will be well maintained. I believe this role will require the following responsibilities:

  • Managing the day-to-day finances
  • Keep an accurate record of the PTA’s financial activity
  • Reports on the finances at meetings in a clear and concise way
  • Arrange floats for events
  • Ensure money is kept safely before and during events
  • Bank the takings from events and fundraisers

I look forward to seeing the PTA come together and making it a success for Belmore.
