Updated information for parents

I hope that you and your loved ones are all staying well in these uncertain times. With school closed and children at home and currently in ‘lockdown’ I fully understand how this could be a challenge and a stress for both parents and children.
I wanted to write to keep in touch with you all and to update you on a few things:
It is vital that we all do what we can to make sure that children are still working and learning. At some point we will get back to normal and children will return to school and return to their education. They will have missed possibly weeks of schooling. This will have an impact on their progress but we all have to do our best to keep them from falling too far behind.
We issued home learning packs when the school first closed to cover the first two weeks. We had planned to issue new packs for parents to come in to collect. With the country in lockdown we cannot expect parents to come in to collect new packs yet. Instead we will be putting more materials and work suggestions on the school’s website. There is a lot on there already but there will be new resources available from Friday 3 April. All of this can be found under the new ‘Home Learning’ tab on the website:
From this page just click on the Year group for your child(ren)
Parents should not bring completed work in to school at this time.
Free School Meals
For those children who are entitled to free school meals our caterers are providing packed lunches that can be collected each day between 12.30pm and 1pm. This is only for those who are entitled to benefits-related free school meals. At this time it is NOT for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 who get free lunches when the school is open.
The Government are looking at a scheme to offer vouchers for parents to buy food in major supermarkets if they are on benefits-related free school meals. This is not yet up and running. As soon as this has been agreed and sorted we will be in touch with the relevant parents. There are some scam emails going around asking for your bank details to get vouchers. DO NOT REPLY TO ANY OF THESE. Only trust communication that comes from the school.
Keeping in touch
Many of you will have questions and issues or just feel the need to make contact with someone from school. There are a few ways of contacting us:
- The best method is through the school’s main email address: email@example.com
- Between 8.30am and 3.00pm you can phone the main school number. Someone is usually on the front desk to answer calls, although they may be away from the desk from time to time. Please do not leave messages as these may not be picked up. If no-one answers please try again later
- There are also separate Year group email addresses on the website and teachers or Year Leaders will reply to questions as soon as they can
I will be in touch again soon.
These uncertain times won’t last forever. In the meantime please stay safe and stay well.
